MAYBE YOU WERE JUST MISUNDERSTOOD
... OR MAYBE NOT

Over the years we have spoken to a lot of people and heard a plethora of reasons as to why they are giving up their dog, strange reasons for why they want a Rott, how they define a German Rottweiler and their views on spaying and neutering. We thought we would share some of these realistic, amusing and sad comments.
Why do you want a Rott or why do you want a rottie pup vs. an older dog?

pupWe have small children and a puppy would be better for them.

pupWe want a puppy so it can grow up with the children.

pupPuppies are easier to train.

pupAn adult dog is easier to train.

pupWe want a Rott for protection.

pupWe never had one before and 'heard' they are good dogs.

pupI like the look.

pupI want a big dog.

pupI want a pet that 'looks mean'.

Why do you need to give up your dog?

pupCan no longer take care of it.

pupToo large.

pupToo small

pup Allergies.

pupMoving and cannot take dog with.

pupMoving to no pet apartment.

pupI'm pregnant and can't keep dog.

pupGetting divorced.

pupGetting remarried.
pupDog too passive.

pupDog too aggressive.

pupKids are too rough with the dog.

pupBought a new house and the house is too big.

pupInstalled white or light colored carpeting.

pupHouse is too small.

pupWe have had the dog for 8 years and our current lifestyle does not permit us to spend as much time with it.

pupDidn't know we would have to take the dog to training.

pupHave kept the dog in an outside run and the neighbors are complaining about the barking.

pupNot home enough to spend enough time with the dog.


pupWe have a newborn and are now afraid of the dog.


pupWe got another dog and don't want this one anymore.


pupHave had the dog since a pup but now they have children in the family and are afraid the dog will knock them down. (This particular family had already purchased two puppies of another breed.)
