PARKER

Parker

I was recently asked what happens if a dog comes into rescue and is not placed? My answer was PARKER.

In February 1997, I was asked by Dr. Coyne of Forest South Animal Hospital to look at a stray that had been at the clinic for a few weeks . His age, at that time, was estimated to be between 4 and 5, when it was really 7 or 8. After heartworm treatment, a diagnosis of retinal degeneration and hearing loss, Parker decided to stay with me and did for the past 5 1/2 years.

It was in the last two, though, that he started going downhill. Now totally blind and suffering from dementia, he was unsure of his footing and had to be guided in and out of the house, up and down the stairs. He could no longer run in the backyard and play with his favorite white ball. A decision had to be made.

On May 8th, while I held him in my arms, Doc administered the final injection. He went peacefully. Parker's body was cremated at Cozy Acres Pet Cemetary. His white ball that he loved so much sits next to his cremains and both will remain with me forever.

Visit our other Recycled Rotts who have gone to the bridge at our MEMORIAL Page.
